Reproduction classic paintings by Aagaard painted in oil on canvas. All works by Aagaard entirely hand painted.
Carl Frederic Aagaard was born on January 29, 1833 in Odense.
In 1852, at the age of 19, Aagaard was admitted as a student at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen and became a pupil of the landscape painter Peter Christian Skovgaard who would have a great influence on him during his life. With his brother Johan Peter (da) he works both woodcut xylography and etching and becomes the assistant of the decorative painter Georg Christian Hilker.
In 1857, Aagaard presented his works to the public for the first time in a parish exhibition, which met with great success. Between 1869 and 1870, Aagaard undertook a study trip through Switzerland, then a few years later in 1875 and 1876, he traveled to Italy. From these trips he brought back many sketches which would serve as the base for these oil paintings in the workshop. In 1892, he obtained the title of Professor.
He died in Copenhagen on November 2, 1895 at the age of 62.
