Jean-Pierre Cassigneul is a painter born in 1935. He is quickly considered as an artist apart, not following any contemporary movement known to date, thus going against the current.

He draws his inspiration from various artistic currents, never fully respecting the rules of one or the other, which earned him great success abroad.

The artist then paints the daily life of a bourgeois class, in a palette of colors reminiscent of the Nabi movement, always with great sensitivity.

French painter known for his portraits of women in hats reminiscent of the post-Impressionist French avant-garde, notably the works of Pierre Bonnard et Edouard Vuillard. Born July 13, 1935 in Paris, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts before presenting his first solo exhibition there at the age of 17. A year later, he was named a member of the Salon d'Automne. From 1956 to 1960, he studied under the aegis of the painter Roger Chapelain-Midy and from 1965 he exhibited at the Bellechasse gallery in Paris.
